Google’s search results are frequently powered by their Knowledge Graph, a massive database made up of billions of facts.
The purpose of the Knowledge Graph, which gathers information from millions of public and private sources, is to provide accurate answers to Google search queries.
Google’s Knowledge Graph powers the Knowledge Panels you often see on the right side of the search results when you do a keyword search for a company, a person, or a place — such as the panel for Tesla you see in the image above.
If the knowlege panel is for a business, it can include descriptive information, where the business is headquarted, when it was founded, etc.
Google says that knowledge panels are automatically generated based on searches, and are updated when information changes on the web.
